RESEARCH ON MOTIVATION OF PRODUCT MANAGERS
IN STATE-OWNED COMMERCIAL BANKS
ABSTRACT
This paper first analyzes on the existing competitive situation of state-owned
commercial banks, and then it proposes that the key for a state-owned commercial
bank to succeed in competition is to provie the competitive financial products, and
consequently, it points out the significance of motivating the product managers in
state-owned commercial banks. The paper is trying to establish a motivation model for
product managers in state-owned commercial banks"amd to conduct empirica
analyses on the motivation model
This paper gives a definition on product managers in state-owned commercial
banks and summarizes their common responsibilities. It has been enlightened by
previous theories of human resources management on researching the motivation of
product managers By combinin the real practices, it also analyzes that the product
managers looks for superior living standard, pleasure in work, promotion and good
working atmosphere
Basing on the above research, it then proposes a motivation model for product
managers in state-owned commercial banks. With "overall salary strategy as its
fundamental concept, the motivation model is to achieve its goal by combining and
mutually supplementing exterior motivation and internal motivation. Four measures
including salary motivation, work motivation, promotion motivation and spirit
motivation have been proposed to motivate the product managers in state-owned
commercial banks. A the same time, the paper points out that the product managers
prefer the internal motivation, that is, non-monetary motivation measures
The paper in the end conducts empirical analyses on motivation of product
managers in the ABC state-owned commercial bank. It conducts research on how to
motivate product managers by applying this motivation model, proposes specific
motivation measures and methods, analyzes the current weakness of motivation
practices in the bank, as well as summarizes the enlightenment and attentive issues
concerning motivation of product managers in state-owned commercial banks.
